MY EXPERIENCE IN PHUKET

Phuket was a complete contrast to our short trip in Bangkok. We were able to completely relax, which was exactly what we needed after a long journey and extremely busy few days in Thailand’s capital. At first, the lack of public transport was daunting. It was even more worrying when we realised how far away our accommodation was from everything. But when we arrived at our magnificent hotel, all of my concerns quickly faded away. We were in complete paradise.

The Crest Resort & Pool Villas is quite literally the fanciest place I have ever seen. I squealed with excitement when I was handed a posh welcome drink and saw the glorious infinity pool, which had a bar INSIDE it. I fell in love with our room, which had TWO double beds joined together, a glorious view and swan-shaped towels.

We definitely made the most of the hotel with plenty of pool days, but we also did a bit of exploring. We visited the Paradise Beach, and the name pretty much says it all. I read books, drank yummy coconut cocktails and swam in the sea. It was glorious.

We went on a boat trip to Phang Nga Bay and explored the limestone cliffs and rock formations. One of the islands we saw on the trip was Koh Tapu, known as the James Bond Island due to appearing in ‘The Man with the Golden Gun’. Although the Bond feature is the biggest selling point of the trip, and the reason the price is increased, in my opinion it was a bit of a let down. But the beautiful scenery of the rest of the trip made it worthwhile.

Now, the Phuket Simon Caberet show was like nothing I had EVER experienced before. The promise of the greatest show in the world was definitely not fulfilled, but it was a lot of fun. At one point, a performer dressed in drag danced on men in the audience, and shoved their heads in her fake tatas! It was hilarious but if this is a bit much for you, opt to sit in the upper tier when booking your tickets.

We decided not to explore much of the town centre because it looked extremely touristy. But I would definitely recommend visiting the beaches and stunning scenery.

The hotel was by far the highlight of the trip. The luxurious spa, yoga and meditation classes, and without forgetting the most important part.. the breakfast buffet, created a little drop of heaven. It helped us feel completely revitalised for our visit to Koh Samui…
