Do you ever have those moments when you have a full wardrobe of clothes but still feel like you have nothing to wear? I mean, I wouldn’t believe you if you said you didn’t. It can be hard to keep up with the current trends and make your wardrobe seem a bit more exciting than usual, especially when you are on a budget.
Among my friends and family I am known for spending my spare time shopping, it is what I do best but… it can get very expensive. Sometimes I can feel overwhelmed with the long list of trends that I want to be a part of (whether it is razzle dazzle or the colour red) but I know that I simply cannot afford them all. However, I have found you can still get on board with these fabulous fashion trends by just accessorising. Using jewellery, hats, scarves and shoes is a great way to jazz up a simple outfit (and it is a lot cheaper).
These are some of my own accessories that I love and always seem to get me compliments… even if I am just wearing a simple jeans and t-shirt ensemble. My collection of earrings at the moment is expanding. I never used to experiment with jewellery but I am now pushing myself to try new and obscure styles that I never thought I could pull off.
These tassle earrings are perfect for adding something a little bit extra to make your look bold and fun. Although, they aren’t to everybody’s taste (I may have heard people comparing them to curtain tassels) but I absolutely love them and feel so confident when I put them on. You can find these all over the high street shops at the moment and they come in a huge variety of colours but I personally love them in red (the colour of the season) and blue.
BELT, SHOES, TASSEL EARRINGS – TOPSHOP, HOOP EARRINGS – ACCESSORIZE, LEAF NECKLACE – GIFT
You simply cannot go wrong with hoop earrings, they have been here forever and some of you might not be able to forget the Vicky Pollard association but I think they are brilliant and actually, quite classy. This leaf necklace was a gift and something quite special to me so I only whip it out here and there. It is still quite minimalist so it doesn’t completely take focus away from whatever outfit you are wearing but it is great for adding a bit of sparkle and completing any autumnal look.
I recently invested in this red western belt when it occurred to me I don’t actually own a decent belt. I have been rockin’ a worn out gold belt for the past couple of years.. which is way past its expiration date. However, this one is the perfect size for what I was looking for and the colour will really pop next to any pair of jeans.
The below tortoise shell hoop earrings are a recent purchase. I had been eyeing up an incredible tortoise shell bag which was way over my budget but I absolutely love this print so when I came across these bad boys I knew I had to have them. They are great for daywear or something a bit more casual.
TORTOISE SHELL EARRINGS – ASOS, MOON AND STAR EARRINGS – TOPSHOP, SHOES – NEXT, DEATHLY HALLOWS NECKLACE – GIFT
The deathly hallows necklace is just an obvious choice for any Harry Potter fan… need I say more?
I find these moon and star earrings are quite simplistic but a little bit different to your bog-standard pair and great for evening wear.
Speaking of evening wear, my go-to brand for more ‘up market’ jewellery has to be Swarovski. I am always impressed with there absolutely stunning collections. I know these are more on the pricey side but I think it is definitely worth investing in one or two items from here. They are perfect for big celebrations or even date nights, they are oh so classy and make me feel amazing.
These cream and white necklaces are both from high street stores but I think these are also great for evening wear, they add sophistication and class.. without having to break the bank (which is always a plus).
EARRINGS – SWAROVSKI, SEMI-CIRCLE NECKLACE – TOPSHOP, BRAIDED NECKLACE – ACCESSORIZE
Moving on to winter nights, when you need to wrap up warm but still want to remain stylish! I absolutely adore these mustard pom pom earrings, again they aren’t to everyone’s taste but they are amazing for adding a pop of colour and something a bit different to your everyday looks.
HAT, SCARF – TOPSHOP, NECKLACE – DISNEY COUTURE, POM POM EARRINGS – ZARA
I think it is also important to invest in a lovely scarf and bobble hat (or five) through winter. This is a great way to add a pop of colour or some prints to your outfit and if you are living in the UK you will need it.. a lot.
This gold locket necklace is again a gift, and not something I have out very often but it is so special. It is from the Disney Couture collection and says ‘a dream is a wish your heart makes’ which is of course a Cinderella reference, which is my favourite Disney film of all time. If you are a Disney fan like myself, you will absolutely love their range.
Now to shoes… I have been adding to my collection more and more recently as a pair of statement shoes is always a fantastic way of adding a pop of colour or print to your outfit. In these pictures I have included a fabulous pair of red heeled boots, croc print black heels and some wine coloured strappy flats.
SHOES – BOOHOO
Only a few of these items are brand spankin’ new and the majority of them have been hiding away for a long time. So, I am sure if you route through your old things too you will also come across plenty of accessories that will easily add something a little bit special to your day-to-day outfits.
